From the Pistol House shooters also have access to two bullet traps set out at approximately 17 yards. These are ideal target placements for those preferring a higher energy/higher recoil cartridge such as the .357 and .44 Magnum.
The energies from these magnum cartridges pair well with the larger and sturdier traps at this distance. Bench rests are available in the pistol house to aid in shot placement.
Lastly, from the Pistol House shooters have access to one bullet trap set out at approximately 43 yards. This is also a larger and sturdier bullet trap capable of absorbing the energies of magnum handgun rounds. It is also ideal for the rimfire rifle shooter ** who wishes to remain indoors.
This trap, designated as accessible from Lane 6, is also accessible from the outdoor shooting platform at the shooting bench immediately adjacent to the pistol house wall.
** Rimfire rifles are the only type of rifle allowed inside the Pistol House. Center Fire rifles must be used on the outside Rifle shooting platform. If there are questions about permissible firearms on ANY range, please reach out to the Board of Directors via our website: <website placeholder>
The Rifle Range consists of the aforementioned ‘shared’ trap and two more, larger, bullet traps at approximately 43 yards. There are a total of 5 shooting benches that can accommodate a rifle rest and shooter’s gear. The recommended cartridge choices for these traps must not exceed a traditional .308 or 30-06 in terms of energy*
There are available target holders that can hold a cardboard backer with paper target attached.
All targets used in the bullet traps must be paper, affixed to a cardboard backer and centered in the trap. Cardboard backers are found in the pistol house.
